How to Master the Art of Speed Golf

Speed golf, also known as “turbo golf” or “the extreme sport of golf,” is a fast-paced game that combines the challenge of a traditional golf match with the thrill of a marathon race. Unlike traditional golf, speed golf takes a more aggressive approach. Players must finish the course within a certain time limit in order to win. Start training for a speed golf event with the tips below.

Conditioning for Speed Golf

Like any sport, speed golf requires stamina and physical strength. You must stay fit and maintain endurance if you want to keep up with the pace of the game. Start by running or jogging for 15 minutes each day to build your endurance and get in shape. You can increase the length of your runs each week as you become more comfortable with the activity.

Also start strength training at least twice a week so you can keep your body strong and healthy. Try doing squats and lunges to stay flexible and build leg strength. You can also perform arm exercises, such as push-ups and triceps dips.

Equipment Preparation

Speed golf requires a different set of equipment than traditional golf. You should bring light golf clubs that are easy to carry and lightweight golf balls that will fly farther distances. If possible, leave the golf trolley behind and invest in a lightweight golfing bag.

Additionally, wear a good quality watch with a timer and make sure to leave some extra energy gels in your bag for quick energy boosts along the course. Also, don scorecard and markers for tracking your scores.

Technique Practice

Speed golf requires a different approach than traditional golf. Your goal is to finish the course as quickly as possible, not necessarily to get the perfect hole-in-one. While traditional golfers focus on accuracy, speed golfers should focus on their speed around the course.

To practice your speed golf technique, start out at a leisurely pace and gradually increase your speed each week. Focus on hitting your shots accurately without spending too much time on each swing. Find the appropriate spots to take more time so you can achieve a better shot.

Out on the Course

When you’re ready to head out on the course for a game of speed golf, remember to set your timer right away. Start the timer when you tee off on the first hole and keep track of your playing time as you go.

Push yourself to keep up a fast pace, but always hit each shot with precision. If it starts to feel like the pace of the game is too slow, try picking up the pace on the next shot.

Remember to stay focused and maintain your form throughout the game. Take a few breaths and keep your head in the game at all times.

Focus on the Finish Line

Although speed golf can be intimidating and challenging, keep in mind that you’re playing a sport, not a marathon. There’s no need to run and sprint around the entire course.

You’ll still need to stay energized in order to keep moving. Try and plan a few mini breaks during the round so you can take a quick bite and refuel your energy. Also, maintain your focus on the finish line and keep track of your time and score.

These tips should help you become a speed golf pro in no time. If you combine proper technique, conditioning and preparation, you’ll be ready to take on the challenge of speed golfing. With the right approach, you should be able to beat the clock and come out a winner. Good luck!
