Formation of the Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon is situated in the Atlantic Ocean and was formed due to a natural underwater excavation. The lagoon was created around 2,000 years ago when currents eroded a deep circular opening through the rocky beach. The opening eventually widened, allowing seawater to flow in, creating this striking, tranquil lagoon.

These corals are home to many species of tropical fish. The lagoon is also home to seahorses, sea turtles, crabs, and a variety of mollusks.
