The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve

The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is located in the Tilaran Mountains and is known for its incredibly diverse wildlife, as well as its breathtaking views and landscapes. It is a favorite spot of scientists and nature lovers alike, due to its impressive array of endemic species. The cloud forest is home to over 400 species of birds, including Valerio’s screech owl and the Resplendent quetzal, as well as howler monkeys, sloths, and jaguars. The area is also renowned for its diverse plant species, such as the towering trees of the tropical rainforest and the orchids native to the region.

The Turtle Beaches of Costa Rica

The beaches of Costa Rica, particularly those in the Caribbean region, the Guanacaste peninsula, and the Osa Peninsula, play host to one of the most unique phenomena in the world – the nesting of the endangered sea turtles. During the rainy season in the months of April through October, thousands of sea turtles nest in various locations along the beaches of Costa Rica. The most popular species of sea turtles that nest in Costa Rica’s turtle beaches are the leatherback turtles, green turtles, and hawksbill turtles. These turtles come up from the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico to the Nunciatura Beach in the northwest region of Costa Rica to lay their eggs.
