Discovering The Sacred Scientific Forests of Kibale National Park

In recognition of its scientific significance, the forests of Kibale National Park have been declared as part of the Great Asiatic Kibale Eco-region, a project funded by UNESCO for the protection of the region’s natural and scientific attractions.

The project was established in 2004 in order to coordinate inter-regional conservation efforts and to ensure that the sacred scientific forests of Kibale remain preserved in their natural form. It also aims to develop and promote best practices in forest management and sustainable development.
